From Saturday 5 to Monday 21 April, we'll need to temporarily close Chesil Street alongside using temporary three-way traffic lights. We'll be carrying out this work during the school Easter holiday to minimise the impact on local traffic.

We’re carrying out work to replace our gas mains in Magdalen Hill area of Winchester, which is essential to ensure we can maintain a safe and efficient gas supply to residents, businesses, and the wider community.
Our contractor I&G Contractors Ltd will begin work on Saturday 15 February and our project will last approximately eight weeks.
From Saturday 15 February, we'll need to temporarily close Bridge Street for one week from Magdalen Hill to the junction of Chesil Street. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses and a signed diversion will be in place for road users.
From Monday 17 February until Friday 4 April, we will ask road users to ‘give and take’ past our work area in St Johns Street at the parking bays at the junction of Blue Ball Hill.
From Saturday 22 February until Monday 7 April, we will install temporary multi-way traffic lights on Magdalen Hill at the junctions with Alresford Road and Bridge Street.
We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by this work. We understand people can get frustrated by roadworks so we only use traffic management which we feel is efficient enough to complete these works safely for the public and our engineers.
