Salisbury, A36 Wilton Road

Update: Wednesday 13 November

We’re carrying out work to replace our gas mains at the Wilton Roundabout (A36), which are essential to ensure we can maintain a safe and efficient gas supply to residents, businesses, and the wider community.

Our engineering work will be complete today and will be followed by road reinstatement. Our temporary traffic lights will be removed by 6pm on Friday 15 November.

The temporary traffic lights will remain in place until reinstatement is complete and the road surface set and safe for vehicles to drive on. There will be limited visibility of engineers on site while the road surface is curing.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience these works have caused and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Original post

From Monday 23 September to Friday 25 October, our contractors FPF Utilities Limited will replace the gas main on the A36 Wilton Road, Salisbury.

These essential works are required to address previous leaks on the gas main and will involve replacing old metal low pressure gas pipes with new plastic gas mains.

Due to the location of the gas pipe in the road, for everyone’s safety and to avoid road closures, we need to install temporary traffic lights around our work area.

We have planned our work in two phases:

Phase one - from Monday 23 September to Friday 25 October

We'll be working along the A36 Wilton Road between its junctions with The Kingsway and North Street. We’ll also be working on a short section of The Kingsway.

For everyone's safety, we'll be using temporary multiway traffic lights which will be manually controlled from 7am to 7pm every day.

Phase two - from Monday 11 November to Thursday 21 November

We’ll return to complete the final section of replacement work on the Wilton roundabout.

For everyone's safety, we'll be using temporary multiway traffic lights which will be manually controlled from 7am to 7pm every day.

Important information

  • Access to side roads and properties will be maintained.
  • Bus routes may be affected – please check with your service provider for the latest updates on changes to bus timetables and routes.

We're sorry for any inconvenience these works may cause. We understand how disruptive work on the A36 is for road users and the local community - replacing the gas main is the only permanent solution to addressing the ongoing leaks and disruptive emergency repairs.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
