Kilmacolm, A761 Port Glasgow Road

We will be carrying out essential work to upgrade the local gas supply network in Kilmacolm from Monday 10 March.

Our work will ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas continues to be delivered to Kilmacolm homes and businesses. It involves replacing the existing pressure district governor at the junction of Market Place and Gillburn Road to address ongoing pressure issues in the area.

All local businesses in the area will be open as normal throughout these works.

Following discussions with Inverclyde Council, our project will begin on Monday 10 March and last approximately 6 to 10 weeks. The work will be carried out in three phases and our teams will be working seven days a week during phases one and two to complete our work as quickly as possible.

Dates for phases are estimated and dependent on progress of previous phases.

Phase 1 – Starts on 10/03/25 – Duration approx. 2-3 weeks

Temporary three-way traffic lights will be in place at the junction of Bridge of Weir Road, Port Glasgow Road and Lochwinnoch Road. The lights will be manually controlled at peak times seven days a week.

We will also need to close Market Place both ways. A signed diversion will be in place via Port Glasgow Road, Woodrow Avenue and High Street.

Phase 2 – Starts on 31/03/25 – Duration approx. 3-7 weeks

The three-way traffic lights in phase one will be removed but the road closure at the junction of Bridge of Weir Road, Port Glasgow Road and Lochwinnoch Road will remain in place.

Phase 3 – Starts on 05/04/25 – Duration approx. 5 weeks

The road closure in Market Place will remain in place during this phase. Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place in Lochwinnoch road outside Kilmacolm Community Centre.

We’ve worked closely with the local authorities in planning this work and we will be doing everything we can to limit disruption during our essential project.

We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however, the new assets we’re installing will ensure Kilmacolm homes and businesses will enjoy the benefits of a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come
