We'll be carrying out essential gas network upgrades along Havant Road in Farlington from mid-February. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to nearby homes and businesses.

What we're doing
We're replacing our old metal pipes in phases along Havant Road. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
When we're working
Our work will start on Thursday 22 February and is expected to last approximately eight weeks. We'll pause our work while Southern Water close Eastern Road southbound. This collaborative approach has been developed with Portsmouth City Council, Colas and Southern Water to help minimise disruption.

To help ease traffic congestion and to support Southern Water's work on Eastern Road, we will pause our work on the following gas main replacement projects:
Havant Road, Farlington
The first phase of the replacement work on Havant Road will be completed on Friday 15 March and we’ll be off the road with temporary lights removed.
We'll be resurfacing within the footpath from the week beginning Monday 18 March.
London Road
Work will pause on London Road from Friday 15 March to Sunday 24 March. London Road will be reinstated and all lanes reopened.
From Sunday 24 March for five weeks, our engineers will return to complete the final phase of work. For everyone’s safety, we’ll need to have a lane closure in place for the first two weeks.
Our engineers will be upgrading our gas network in Havant Road from Monday 19 February.
We'll be working in sections from its junction with Farlington Avenue to Gilman Road.
To access our pipes and ensure everyone's safety, temporary traffic lights will be installed around our work area. Please allow additional time for your journeys.
As we progress along Havant Road, we will need to close the Galt Road and Lower Farlington Road junctions. This means there will be no access to or from Havant Road at these junctions. Signed diversions will be in place for affected motorists.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, these essential gas network upgrades will ensure local residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
