A team of our IT workers have celebrated volunteering for five years at a Havant-based day service for young adults with learning disabilities.
Chaos House is a day service based in Havant which opened in 2013 to help young adults with learning disabilities or additional needs. The main aim is to help them learn independence, employment and life skills.
Our IT team recently spent a day at the centre volunteering their time to give the sensory room a fresh look ready for new equipment being purchased following a local fundraising event.
It’s part of our Community Action Programme, which gives each of our 4,000 people a day of company time each year to volunteer and help an organisation or charity of their choice.
The team of five had a busy day clearing out the contents of the room, painting and tidying it so that it was ready for the new equipment. In previous years, they’ve also spent time painting the large hallway, stairs and dining room, and tidying up and planting flowers in the garden.
Stefanie Radley, Product Group Manager for Front Office and Future of Energy at SGN, said: “We love coming to Chaos House each year – they provide vital services for some amazing young adults and we know how incredibly grateful they are for the support we give them. It was a lot of hard work but it was a pleasure to be able to work alongside the service users and find out just how much the centre means to them. We’re already looking forward to coming back for our sixth year!”
